George V. Kakoulides, MD, FAANS, FACS

Dr. George V. Kakoulides, MD, FAANS, FACS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon who has successfully treated thousands of patients across Long Island. He specializes in minimally invasive and complex spine surgeries of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.

Education

Dr. Kakoulides first obtained his medical degree with high honors from Tufts University School of Medicine. He also pursued a joint master’s degree in international relations at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He then completed his residency in neurological surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he also obtained advanced training in complex spine surgery during a year-long spine fellowship.

He has expertise in radiosurgery and the management of benign and malignant brain tumors.
His research published in The Annals of Surgery lead to the creation of IKONA: a company utilizing immersive technology to transform the patient’s journey.
He trains upcoming healthcare professionals at IKONA, where he is a co-founder.
He obtained advanced training in complex spine surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
He is a Member of American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
